Guntersville became my home in the fall of 1989. Having been a part of the community for over 25 years I appreciate the beauty of the idyllic lakeside setting and the warmth of the friends here. The Christian Center in Arab, AL is where I call my church home. You can visit there on the third Sunday night of each month and see over 200 needy families from Marshall and surrounding counties given a message of gospel hope and a box of food for their family!
During my work experience in Marshall County, I spent time in the jewelry business with Griffin’s Jewelers, the publishing business with PIC Publications, the office equipment and supply business with Office Equipment Company, and the trucking and auto transportation business with Lake City Trucking, Follow Thru Transportation Systems and in Etowah County, Alaplex Transportation, Inc..
For almost 11 years I served as the Safety Director for automobile transport company Alaplex Transportation, Inc. in Sardis City, AL. During this time I made the daily drive essentially form one end of Marshall County to just beyond the other end. In 2011 Alaplex sold to Gulf States Toyota Transport out of Houston, TX who in January of 2012, closed the Sardis location. At 56 years old it was time to reinvent myself. I had a strong interest in computers since the early 1990’s and chose to go back to school at Snead State Community College through the State of Alabama’s WIA program. Proudly, I was able to graduate in August 2014 summa cum laude with an Associate Degree in Applied Science, Computer Science Tech.
In our current economy jobs are not easy to come by for any age group, but I found the market for guys nearing 60, even more of a challenge. Since I have always longed for the freedom of working for myself and being a part of something where I could be sure my contributions would make a difference in my community, I decided to take the 20 plus years of experience I have with computers combined with 35 years of experience in business management in the restaurant, jewelry, publishing, office supply and trucking industries and my new Computer Science Degree and start my own computer consulting business.
